Temple
Beth Or
Preschool
In order for children to reach their greatest potential, Temple Beth Or Preschool provides a warm, safe and stimulating environment in which the students feel supported and encouraged. Through free play and teacher- led activities, our children learn to:
Activity Centers
The classes are designed around activity centers
equipped with age-appropriate materials.
Art Center
Art activities increase fine motor control and develop
eye-hand coordination. Children learn about color
and form and their relationship to one other. Children
can express their emotions symbolically in this
center and use a variety of media to depict their
creative ideas.
Manipulative Center
Items in this center encourage development in
problem solving, concentration, accuracy and
perseverance. As children string beads together or
work with play dough, they find opportunities to
develop fine-motor skills, balance and manual
dexterity.
Block Center
Building blocks help develop large and small muscle
control and facilitate understanding of measurement
and number concepts, as well as spatial
relationships, classification, problem solving and
memory skills. Sharing the materials encourages
social interaction and self-control.
Dramatic Play Center
Here, children develop social skills, communication,
imagination and fantasy play. Through role-playing,
children have the opportunity to express strong
feelings and work through frightening, unhappy or
embarrassing experiences.
Book Center
This center helps increase the powers of observation
and listening. Skills acquired here form the
foundations upon which a child will learn to read.
Science/Math Center
Items in the Science/Math Center call for
classification, organization and sequencing. Children
learn to interpret what they see, hear, smell, feel and
taste. Cooking activities and sand/water play are
included.
